It starts with a race she cannot win — a wall of snow roaring down the mountain behind her. Then the mountain itself moves: a giant white serpent rises from the slopes, carves a glowing tunnel through the ice, and carries her deeper than any skier has ever gone. He talks. He has a world down there. And at the end of the deepest cave, something is shining pink through the dark — the Crystal Heart, where no avalanche can follow.
The Touch
One rule guards the heart: nobody touches it. But the heart is calling her name — and when Scarlett gives in, it leaves a piece of itself inside her glove. The fall that follows is nothing next to what wakes up in the dark, now that the thing sleeping inside the heart knows exactly who touched it.
